CHARACTER NAME; Adorea
AGE; 30
CANON; Franken Fran
CANON POINT; After Volume 7 Chapter 57
FAMILY TYPES; Dark area, Unknown, Nightmare soldiers jungle troopers, deep savers and Virus busters
APPEARANCE; Adorea is tall for a girl at 6'1, with a slender figure and long legs and arms. Narrow shoulders and long flowing black hair. She usually wears it up but if she were to wear it down it goes past her behind. While she looks human she hides a secret behind a mask of bandages. Her face is a mass of writhing tentacles, of various sizes and lengths. The largest ones are on the outer ring of her face and the further in towards the middle and her mouth they become smaller. When wearing her bandages they curl and flatten out as to avoid giving her a big headed appearance. Due to her hidden appearance it's difficult to judge her age but she died as a young woman, and upon her revival her body did not age.
PERSONALITY;
Soft spoken and gentle, Adorea lives to serve. She loves to know she has helped someone out and cares little for her own personal gain in the matter. She gives willingly of what she has and if possible will be the first to volunteer where needed. To those she is loyal to she is willing to give even more and overlook some of the moral implications of whatever may be asked of her.
That is not to say she has no morals. She has a sense of right and wrong but is willing to consider the gray area of those choices as well. She has no problem with killing another living being so long as there is a good enough reason. But she would not willingly kill an innocent person of her own volition. But if she is loyal to the person in command, or given a good enough reason she would consider it. It has been said she cannot say no when asked to do something, however it could simply be that her limit has never been reached. Sometimes this can lead her to be confused however. In one such situation when students around her school demanded her blood type, she was unable to comply because her blood type changed depending on her situation. When they insisted she sought out others and devoured them to absorb their blood type. Soon she could not stop from devouring more and more students hoping to gain their personalities and traits. Thankfully Doctor Fran slowed her down and reasoned with her.
She is far from a delicate flower when it comes to mature subjects. As a aid to Doctor Fran she has been exposed to all manner of horror and gore. But what really frightens her is not knowing who she is. Her calm, mellow manners hides a woman searching for her lost identity. Her memories of life are fuzzy at best and because of that she can't remember well who she was. So instead she seeks out who she has become.
She is also afraid of bugs. The kind of afraid that leads to one over-reacting, crying for help and trying to stay far enough back they can't touch her but not so far that she loses track of them.
HISTORY;
Once upon a time there was a beautiful girl who's name started with A. While her true name is not revealed in the series this girl would become Adorea.
She was a girl in love, as so many are. And like many young women with hearts full of love that love was offered to the wrong man. He was a clever man but a man with a terminal illness. Adorea had an Illness like his and it was discovered that the organs that were failing in him, were healthy in Adorea and vice versa.
They made a pact with one another, whichever one would die the other would receive their organs so that at least one of them would live, and they would forever be together. Not long after that promise the man died, and Adorea was given his organs.
A mysterious and infamous doctor however happened upon the hospital and heard of the mans plight. With his amazing skill he brought the man back from the dead. The man was beside himself with jealousy and anger and went back on his word. While she was still unconscious he demanded his organs back and the doctors...for whatever reason, complied.
It was then that Adorea died, and the man took her healthy organs along with those he had given to her.
The mysterious doctor was not pleased with the situation as it was, and using his skill gave Adorea a new body. A new life. And a chance to take back her organs with interest.
Using her new body she devoured her former lover, and they truly were together at last.
After that the Doctor took her home with him and taught her to act as a medical assistant. A trained nurse though with no license she was passed on to his protege Fran, whom Adorea served loyally.
One such example of her time spent with Fran was during a bus ride in a tunnel that traveled under a mountain. Some misinformed would-be-terrorists destroyed the entrances to the tunnel and trapped the bus inside, as well as themselves.
There were injuries in the explosion and subsequent cave in. Using the extra organs Adorea held inside her body Fran was able to save the lives of the wounded. And as starvation began to set in, Adorea even gave up her own muscles so they might eat and survive.
This deal was not however without a catch. Doctor Fran had made herself a promise. She would save these terrorists even through it was their fault the situation was as dire as it was. If help arrived and they all survived, then Fran would have a clear heart and consider the materials a loss.
However if they died, Adorea would take back the organs, as well as devour the bodies of all who died, harvesting their tissue, bones and organs as interest.
The only survivors were Fran and her support staff. The terrorists all died despite Fran's best efforts and Adorea collected their bodies just as happily as she had given of her own.
Adorea has also been sent on missions away from home, accompanying Doctor Fran's sister Veronica to an All girl's school. Adorea's purpose there was to keep tabs on Veronica and "Clean up" any messes that might come to pass. Together they uncovered a slavery and murder ring being operated by the only girl in their class that was kind to Veronica. Adorea aided Veronica in spoiling the plans of that student, and was surprisingly popular in the school due to them thinking she had some kind of disfiguring injury.
When not aiding the Doctor Adorea attends school with Fran to better learn who she is inside.
SAMPLES
FIRST PERSON;
2.) What would you say is your greatest strength?
I've never thought of myself as strong.
At least...I don't think I ever did. I don't feel particularly strong unless I have recently taken in an excess of muscles and bone. Fran once said my greatest strength is the amount my skin can stretch, and how well I adapt. I think she may have been speaking of how my body adjusts itself to different situations based on what I am needed for. I enjoy being useful, however that may be. Veronica has told me she wishes she was as adaptable as I am among people...though I am not sure if she meant it the same way.
3.) If you were given the option to stay in the Digital World or return to your home, which would you choose? Why?
I wouldn't want to impose.
However, we were brought here to help. It's difficult to decide, I had an important duty back home...though I suppose the doctor can get by without me. She is very smart and skilled. And she has many other assistants. though none with my...talents.
So long as the Digital world needs my assistance, I will stay if I can.
Though...I do miss them dearly. Doctor Fran, Veronica and the others. Even my classmates...though not all of them.
I suppose...it all depends. I'm sorry that probably wasn't the answer you wanted. I'll try to do better next time.
5.) You have one choice. That choice will result in either the end of the world or it will save it. Which way would you go?
Why? Is there something wrong with the world?
Are you the one asking me? Would you prefer it?
This world? Or my home world?
I don't know that I could destroy my home without asking Fran first. She always has so much work after all. And without the world she would never be able to complete it.
And there are many people who would probably be upset if it happened.
I would need to know why...and who would want it to be destroyed.
I'm sorry, I'm not very good at these. This is the most anyone has asked my opinion in some time. Should I try again?
THIRD PERSON;
It was a warm, mostly cloudless day. The kind Adorea liked though there wasn't many kinds of weather she ever complained about. Each season had it's beauty to it.
But on this warm spring day she could walk around in a simple sun dress instead of bundling up. People still gave her strange looks for the bandages wrapped around her face and hands, but no one asked. No one even stopped her.
She didn't mind that either. It was peaceful. Just the sound of her feet in the grass as she veered into the park. It was a little lonely sometimes, but she had grown so used to it she could hardly be bothered on a day like today. Thoughts of loneliness only ever crept in when she was already feeling down.
A whimpering sound caught her ear, bringing back a thousand memories of former patients and Adora stopped turning slowly till her eyes settled on the culprit.
A little girl stood at the base of a tree whimpering, tears in her eyes. It was one of the most heartbreaking things. Her balloon was stuck in the branches of the tree. Adorea felt her heart break for the little one and gently padded towards her. Slow, quiet, no need to startle her.
"Excuse me..." She spoke in her soft gentle voice. The little girl turned and gave a start. Even with her bandages on Adorea knew she sometimes startled people. They just didn't expect to see...anything like her. There was a rush of embarrassment and she fumbled out the words. "May I help you?"
The little girl looked confused, then whimpered again and nodded. "It's stuck." She pointed upwards and Adorea nodded, kneeling down to the child's level placing a hand on her shoulder. The bandages wrapped around Adorea's hand seemed to distress the girl more and she stumbled away. Once more leaving Adorea flustered and glad she couldn't actually blush above the neck. Still to any unfortunate onlookers including the girl, they would see the bandages on Adorea's face squirming as her tentacles wriggled in embarrassment.
Rising to her feet the soft spoken woman took to the base of the tree. The lowest branch was above her head, and a few feet above that was the string of the balloon. She wished dearly for her partner but they had remained at the hospital to get some paperwork done during their lunch break.
Her long arms drew up above her head and she curled delicate fingers around the branch. So far so good. She reasoned silently, trying to ignore the whimpers of the nervous little girl. She could not and had to tighten her tentacles to prevent herself from whimpering out of sympathy.
Muscles strained and flexed in those milk pale arms as Adorea tried....and tried...and tried to lift herself up. But despite being so light without extra organs weighing her down she couldn't get more then a foot off the ground.
"Are you stuck too?" Sniffled the little girl and Adorea's tentacles wriggled again. The heat pouring off her "face" was enough she was sure her bandages would catch on fire.
"No but...um...I can't do it unless you close your eyes. OK?" Adorea felt a pit in her stomach open up at the thought of what she would have to do, but if the child was obedient she would have her balloon back much faster.
The little one looked unsure, shuffling her little sneakers in the dirt and Adorea let go of the branch.
"It's um...like a magic trick." She tried to explain. "If you cover your eyes..." Adorea covered her bandage covered face with her equally wrapped up hands "...and count to twenty, I'll have your balloon back. I promise."
The little one still looked suspicious, but the promise of magic and her balloon was enough to get her to cover her eyes and start counting...poorly.
"One, two, three, four...um...seven..."
Adorea made her own whimper thinking that if the little girl finished counting too soon the trick would be ruined and fumbled with her bandages freeing the long slippery limbs that were where a normal person's face would be.
The fresh air felt so good on her tentacles, but she couldn't waste time enjoying it. Grabbing the branch once more with her hands, and four of her large tentacles she grunted, and trembled and lifted herself up higher, one foot, two feet into the air. Then a third.
"eleven, eight, fourteen..."
The tendril at the top of her face stretched as far as it could, the tip curling and uncurling as it lashed at the string to the balloon. Another half foot would do it!
"Eighteen...nineteen..."
Now she gets them in order?!? Adorea silently panicked and the burst of fear gave her the strength she needed to pull up higher and nab the balloon.
CRACK!
Adorea barely had time to squeak before the branch snapped off the tree and brought her crashing to the ground in a heap. When the girl opened her eyes she saw the balloon first and nabbed the string. "MY BALLOON!" She cheered...and then her face grew pale as she saw the slimy slithery tentacle that was hanging onto the end of the string.
Her scream echoed throughout the park and she took off running like a rabbit, the balloon rose forgotten, only to get tangled in the tree once more.
And Adorea sighed quietly to herself, slowly untangling her sore tentacles from the branch and retracting them back towards her face. She rose stiffly and dusted off her dress before glancing back up for the balloon.
By the time anyone came back with the little girl to the spot, all they would find was the balloon tied to the broken branch. While Adorea herself had slipped away, bandages on once more. Her happy mood had been soured somewhat leaving her quiet and contemplative. How could she have handled that better?
She would think about it over a smoothie with extra protein. The protein was for her weak arms. The smoothie was to get the taste of bark and dirt out of her tentacles.
